My journey to becoming a wealth advisor has been anything but conventional, however, every pivot along the way has shaped the advisor I am today. When I was in 8th grade, I made the decision that I wanted to earn a college football scholarship. I worked hard for the next 5 years and earned a full scholarship for football to SMU as a linebacker. After a year, I made the bold decision to transfer and walk on at Texas State—for a girl. That choice turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life, as I ended up earning a full scholarship there and that girl would later become my wife and mother to our three children.
After graduating college, I started my career working as a hand in oil and gas, moving across the country from Bossier City to Pennsylvania to Midland/Odessa, TX. Through hard work and determination, I quickly climbed the ranks, eventually becoming a regional account manager in my late 20s. Along the way, I saw too many colleagues making costly financial mistakes—earning great money but lacking a plan to build long-term wealth. I found a passion for personal finance and spent years learning, reading, and implementing personal finance best practices and financial planning in my own life. I quickly became known among peers as the guy who likes to read about money. As people started to look to me for advice, it sparked a passion in me: helping people take control of their financial futures.
Determined to make a difference, I pivoted to finance, starting from the ground up at Fidelity in a call center. From there, I transitioned to Empower, where I quickly became their top producer in the U.S. working with people on their employer sponsored retirement plans because I took the time to listen to what people needed instead of focusing on meeting a sales target. Wanting to take a more comprehensive approach to financial planning, I moved to Edelman Financial Engines. There I had a better opportunity to build deep relationships with clients. My time there helped me hone my skills in personalized financial strategies and comprehensive planning. While at Edelman, I returned to SMU and received my CFP.
Now, as the founder of Strodtman Wealth Management in partnership with RFG Advisory, I bring together my years of experience, innovative planning technologies, institutional-caliber investment management, and a dedicated support team to offer clients a true concierge wealth management experience. My mission is simple: to provide the guidance, strategy, and partnership my clients need to build, grow, and protect their wealth—so they can focus on living the life they’ve worked so hard to create.
